The University of Arizona Health Science Innovation Building (HSIB) is nearing the completion date and we are excited to see the finished product. Martin, MWG is the engineer of record for the building and has been the special inspector since November 2016.

This summer has been exceedingly busy related to MWG and construction efforts for University of Arizona athletics. The Arizona Football Stadium has undergone remodeling, with MWG serving as the engineer of record. The effort began this Spring with a hard deadline to accommodate the team's opening game on September 1.

Harrison recently graduated with his Master in Structural Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, and is a registered Engineer in Training. Harrison is working with us in the Phoenix office, making his homecoming back to the great state of Arizona after 8 years of studying in California. This summer, MWG started special inspections for the construction of the Banner Hospital Pavilion. This effort, lead by Andy DiLeo with special inspector Kevin Frugoli, is the final piece leading to the opening of The Banner Hospital, closing out a great project that our team has enjoyed working on since late 2014.

In July, MWG's designers of the University of Arizona Bioscience Research Laboratory (BSRL) attended a tour of the building presented by the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL). The speaker at the event guided us through the design intent of the HVAC and lighting system, that had a purpose to make the building comfortable, energy efficient, and cost efficient. Their work has paid off as the building has already guaranteed LEED Silver certification and likely will earn Gold.

MWG kicked off the summer with two of our team members attending the 52nd Structural Engineers Association of Arizona (SEAoA) Convention and Conference at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona. One of the highlights - receiving the 2018 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award for a New Building over $10 Million Dollars.

MWG's efforts on the new University of Arizona Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building (BSPB) have been recognized with a 2018 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award from the Structural Engineering Association of Arizona (SEAoA). The project was honored with the highest level - an Excellence award - for creative achievement and innovation in structural engineering.
