University of Arizona Skaggs Pharmacy Building Expansion
The University of Arizona Skaggs Pharmacy Building expansion will provide much needed updates to the original structure, constructed in 1980. Known for its renowned research work in pharmaceutical sciences, the new facility will provide the College with both new and renovated state-of-the-art research facilities to ensure its growth and capacity to adapt to this dynamic and changing field.
Work includes a two-story, 19,000 square foot addition to the existing building. The design approach was a result of early analysis and findings that the original structure could not withstand the loads associated with two additional floors of research labs, support and office space. Steel roof trusses were designed for clear-span lab spaces, free of obstructions. In addition to serving as the engineer of record for the project, MWG is performing special inspections. GLHN is serving as the Executive Architect with Shepley Bulfinch as Design Architect. The project is being constructed by DPR Construction.
