Summer 2018: Special Inspections

This summer, MWG started special inspections for the construction of the Banner Hospital Pavilion. This effort, lead by Andy DiLeo with special inspector Kevin Frugoli, is the final piece leading to the opening of The Banner Hospital, closing out a great project that our team has enjoyed working on since late 2014.

UofA Bioscience Research Building Complete and in Service

In July, MWG's designers of the University of Arizona Bioscience Research Laboratory (BSRL) attended a tour of the building presented by the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL). The speaker at the event guided us through the design intent of the HVAC and lighting system, that had a purpose to make the building comfortable, energy efficient, and cost efficient. Their work has paid off as the building has already guaranteed LEED Silver certification and likely will earn Gold.

MWG Receives Award at SEAoA Conference

MWG kicked off the summer with two of our team members attending the 52nd Structural Engineers Association of Arizona (SEAoA) Convention and Conference at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona. One of the highlights - receiving the 2018 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award for a New Building over $10 Million Dollars.

UofA Biomedical Wins Structural Award

MWG's efforts on the new University of Arizona Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building (BSPB) have been recognized with a 2018 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award from the Structural Engineering Association of Arizona (SEAoA). The project was honored with the highest level - an Excellence award - for creative achievement and innovation in structural engineering.

Warren White Celebrates 40 Years

In mid May, MWG's Principal Warren White, SE celebrated 40 years with the firm. At a private party, colleagues and family recounted Warren's contributions to the professional as well as the firm, and toasted to his continued dedication to the people he works with and serves as well as his outstanding design capabilities.

UofA Health Sciences Tops Out

The commemorative last steel beam was put into place recently at the UofA Health Sciences Innovation Building (HSIB) project in Tucson, a world-class center designed to be the vanguard for inter-professional health education in the US. The $165 million facility broke ground in 2016. Designed by CO Architects with Tucson-based Swaim Architects, the 10-story, 220,000 square foot building is located on the west side of the Arizona Health Sciences Campus.
